Hahahaha, Mormonism is beyond ridiculous, but I see your point on the resurrection as well. I guess Christianity just slides by b/c it has acceptance in so many places and has for so long. I wanna read that article sometime!

Toys, I agree with your point about people who wear logo hats from a team in which they have no interest.

As a Texas Ex living in Oregon, I used to walk up to anyone wearing a Texas hat and say, "Hook 'em Horns!", thrilled that a fellow Longhorn was here in the Pacific NW; it was a nice break from the "Duck Fans" (don't even get me started on those fair-weather idiots) and a chance to talk about my beloved University, the football team and yes, even the (usually) very good baseball team. I stopped doing it because I got tired of people giving me a blank stare, which required me to explain myself and then hear the annoying words, "oh, a friend gave me this hat" etc. etc.

I can't stand small talk either or inane questions like, "how's your day going?" especially from people who don't really care!

Toys, I would suggest that you and I organize a misanthrope convention, except that the only people who would show up would be a bunch of grouches and who wants to hang around them?!

If you ever find yourself in Oregon and you see a woman wearing a baseball hat with a Longhorn logo on it, don't be annoyed; she can tell you all about her team.

As a student at the U of O in Eugene, I've been to Portland many times and I would have to say that I'm not surprised at all by this. Portland is a great city and has one of the highest percentages of people with graduate degrees in the country and has also been named as one of the best cities to live in year after year, however I think this is absolutely ridiculous and don't believe this will pass. I've met some wonderful and interesting people in Portland but sometimes I feel that many of the people try too hard to be weird. For example, you can legally get married at the local Voodoo Donuts.

As always, well put... I'd like to point out the financial burden a potential repeal could cause. Think about the facilities that would need to be built to accommodate everyone in the best and most appropriate manner, fitting to their lifestyles. I don't have any personal opposition to homosexuals serving. I do, however, have an issue with funds and resources being displaced to accommodate them. (please don't hate my opposition! I date Gilbert, did you expect any other viewpoint?! lol)

You bring up some great points. Some of this is the reason I didn't go to church for years. I found it hard to go out with friends, get wasted, sleep with girls...and then go to church the next morning acting like I was interested in anything the Bible or a priest had to say. I also found it hard to admit I was Christian because I was such a poor example of what I thought that meant. It was always so much easier to just say I believed in God and Heaven, because then I wasn't responsible for acting like a Christian. It's a cop-out for many people including myself. There seems to be a fine line between righteous and self-righteous which is the other extreme I hope to never be. The reason I never argue on behalf of Christianity to you is that I sometimes feel you are better versed in your atheistic beliefs than I am in my own Christian beliefs... a sad reality and one that I hope to change at least for my own sake.

I fully agree that gun violence is a huge problem in America and yes, it must be said that if no one had guns we would live in a safer country. But, for the time being, I will protect myself from all of the punks/idiots/crazies that cause tragedies like the one in Arizona.

But I have to ask the question: If guns were illegalized, wouldn't it just be the crazies who don't adhere to any rules who have all the guns?

Just a thought.
